While I have long despised Dick Cheney's policies I have tried mightily to keep it purely political. I doubt that I would enjoy his company (maybe I'd be surprised, who knows?) But it's really tough to wish him well after those policies have caused thousands of young men and women to lose their lives in Iraq.

On a serious note, I wanted to draw your attention to the news today about Dick Cheney's latest heart setback. The reports have, on their face, been fairly upbeat, with Cheney himself issuing a statement about the surgery he had last week to implant a pump to help his heart overcome his congestive heart failure. The surgery was a success, Cheney is resting comfortably, etc.
But reading between the lines, you're left with the distinct impression that Cheney, 69, is entering the late stages of congestive heart failure, that his prognosis is not very good, and that the available treatment options are very limited. That's my lay person rendering after a close read of this afternoon's reports. Here's a more informed read from TPM Reader JK:
I'm a surgeon and just read your wire story about Dick Cheney getting a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) placed. The story downplays the seriousness of that procedures...once you've got an LVAD in place, it means your heart is essentially incapable of working on its own and has no potential to improve. While LVAD outcomes have been improving, and some patients live months or even years with one of these devices in place, this is a HUGE operation with MAJOR associated morbidity and mortality. If he's not listed for a heart transplant, his days are seriously numbered. Life on an LVAD isn't something I'd wish on my worst enemy...an axiom that this situation really tests. He's in for a rough time. We've known for a long time that Cheney is suffering from serious heart disease. He has known his fate and been upfront about it. But it does appear that things have entered a new and more serious stage, even if he and everyone else knew it would come eventually.

| I understand what you mean. I'm in agreement on the issue of Cheney's policies causing the deaths of thousands of Americans. Perhaps they're waiting for him on the other side, knowing it won't be long. |

Still others who are sick and wounded suffer daily because of the stronglehold this treasonist bastard has held on Americas Finest since the 70's when he first served on the Armed Forces Committee!
I do not see how a metal heart could possibly be any colder!
I truely hope he goes out in pain and despair! |

| Because of this procedure, he no longer has a heart beat. The pump just circulates blood thru this body. Now we can truly say the motherfucker is a vampire! |

You know who is paying for his Health care We are. It is called your Tax Dollars at work.
One of the sad things is he screwed the American people big time, now when he is gone he will get a Heros send off. Like he did something great. Our dead and wounded soldiers came back from Iraq, and the Afgan war with not Media fanfare. That is just what He deserves no media what so ever.
What does the Book say (Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.)So that is exactly what Cheney deserves.

The essence of most religions is the belief that{in the long run} hating hurts the HATER as much as it does the HATED.In Christianity the belief is that ultimately God will take care of things;the suffering in THIS life isn't permanent.A Buddhist would say that Cheney has bad kharma,I suppose.{At least,I hope they would;to me,even voting for Bush-Cheney seems likely to lead to bad Kharma}Anyway, for my part,I say Cheney is a bad politician and a bad human being.I won't lose any sleep if I hear he's suffering, though I might say a prayer for ALL humanity, which includes him,I suppose Chris Bryant
