During one of last week's televised gubernatorial forums, Randy Brogdon totally stumbled over his words and said "injun" before correcting himself and replying "Indian" when asked a question about his views on state government's relationship with tribal governments.
If anyone could help me find footage of this, I would love to show it to some of my Tea Party friends. |

I was there for that one. I thought surely he must have meant to say that tribes are an economic engine giving secondary benefits to the Oklahoma economy and he would foster strong kinships with the indigenous nations in Oklahoma out of not just a common interest but also a deep intrinsic shared fate.
But nope, I guess I was in that other Oklahoma, the Progressive one we don't have yet. <g> |

Did anyone find this footage? I just read this and will check back. As a kid out in western OK, there are two phrases I was called out in Western Oklahoma. 1)dirty injun and 2) squaw. They didn't sit well with me as a kid, and they don't as an adult regardless of where I may be.
I'm glad Brogdon lost. He was the kookier of the GOP's front runners for Gov. |
